Dear Friends,
For more than 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has been preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices. Across the country, the Scouting movement develops leadership skills, citizenship, and personal fitness in America’s future leaders, our youth, by partnering with schools and other community organizations.
In southern Montgomery County, Scouting currently serves only 1,800 young people. The ideals promoted by the BSA could reach even more youth if the BSA were allowed in the schools of the Conroe Independent School District. Many may not realize the CISD has a policy in place that does not permit Scouting in our schools. Scouting Volunteers cannot recruit students in schools and schools cannot sponsor Scout groups . . . Scouting cannot even send home flyers in student folders!
With your help, we can change this! Please let YOUR school board know that you support Scouting and that you believe that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
We ask that you please contact one or more of your school board members to share your feelings. We also remind you that written letters, addressed to individual board members at the school board administration building, may carry more weight. Finally, we are passionate about this issue, but please be respectful in both written and verbal communication.
